Your purchase of Chabi Chic ceramics from Zeal Living has a tangible impact on the lives of artisans and their communities in Morocco.
Founded in 2013 by two Parisian transplants, Vanessa Di Mino and Nadia Noël, Chabi Chic is a lifestyle brand based in Marrakech whose products draw modern inspiration from traditional Moroccan designs. Di Mino, an architect by training, serves as Chabi Chic’s artistic director, while Noël orchestrates operations dedicated to promoting Chabi Chic’s brand to an international audience.
In total, 30 artisans between the age of 20 and 60 are employed by Chabi Chic in Marrakech. Some are based out of workshops, and others work from home. Additionally, Chabi Chic is part of the Marrakesh Cultural and Creative Industries, a program started by the United Nations. This program provides funding though which artisans can receive additional training to grow in their skills and artistry. Artisans are paid a fair living wage and given sustainable employment with good working conditions in a safe work environment.
With every turn of the potter’s wheel and individual brushstroke applied, each object is imprinted with the artisan’s unique touch using techniques passed down from generation to generation.
